In 2021, I completed my B.Sc. (Honours) and Post Graduate Diploma from Ashoka University. My academic journey also included associations with various international institutions to the likes of London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout my journey I have written various academic papers in fields ranging from Financial Modelling to Economics to Investing. I use this space to showcase my current and past work, to detail upcoming plans and to make my presence felt in the world.

WEALTH TAX: RETHINKING INEQUALITY AND TAXATION

Expanding on the work of leading economists to the likes of Gabriel Zucaman, Thomas Piketty, and Emmanuel Saez; this academic paper makes an argument for wealth taxation to solve the rising problem of economic inequality. A progressive version of the tax policy is advocated for to account for liquidity concerns. Further, major criticisms of this policy measure are evaluated.

INDIAN LABOUR MARKETS UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE

Negative externalities associated with pollution and delayed governemnt response have made climate change an inevitable phenomenon. This paper tries to predict the impact environmental damages will have on job markets in India. Certain policy measures and direction to mitigate the impact are also presented. Lastly, international case studies from Norway and South Asia are taken to compare India's situation.

IMPACT OF WEALTH IN INDIAN ELECTIONS

Indian elections are notorious for their vast displays of wealth. This data project is an attempt to theorise how the existing Indian political model given an unfair advantage to wealthier candidates. This is done by running regressions and R's ggplot function on candidate's personal wealth and electoral vote percentage. Data from legislative assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Gujarat is taken to test the hypothesis.

PHILLIPS CARBON BLACK STOCK PITCH

Phillips Carbon Black Limited (PCBL) is the largest producer of carbon black in India. Financial analysis of the firm is undertaken in this pitch to review it as an investment opportunity. Several financial tools are used in this regard to present an investment thesis. Further, developments in the industry such as international anti-dumping fees are taken into consideration

MINIMISING PORTFOLIO VOLATILITY

A project undertaken under Prof. Urban Jerman (Wharton), this document provides a template for a financial model designed to minimise a portfolio's variance conditional on expected return and Sharpe ratio. To do so, the model makes use of historic standard deviation data for securities along with Excel's MPT Solver add-on

LARSEN & TOUBRO STOCK PITCH

Around January 2020, the Indian Government announced investments worth Rs.102 lakh crore in infrastructure. With this development in the backdrop, the attached stock pitch makes a case for infrastructure behemoth L&T. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of every subsidiary of this massive conglomerate is undertaken for the report

One of south India's biggest real estate firm, Brigade enterprises has for long been known for its timely completion of projects, good government relations and wide spectrum of housing projects. In this report, the form's financial outlook is reviewed along with the macroeconomic factors affecting its future growth aspects.

EFFICIENT FINANCIAL FRONTIER WITH SHORTING

Basic Efficient Frontiers are used widely to predict the volatility of a portfolio with two securities. However, one key drawback in this model has been the absence of short selling the securities. This project undertaken under the guidance of Prof. SK Shanthi builds a template which allows for short selling, expanding on the current model

INDIA'S DEMOGRAPHICS: DIVIDEND OR DISASTER?

Twenty-first century India has the potential to be a future superpower because of its young population and low dependency ratio. However, proper governance is required to ensure full utilisation of the workforce. This academic paper reviews the demographic boom of India and lists the steps required to to avert a demographic disaster

ISRAEL'S ECONOMIC GROWTH MIRACLE

A modern economy despite multiple wars and with minimal natural resources, Israeli economy is the perfect model for other countries. The country has one of the highest per capita GDP and dominates key sectors such as defence, cybersecurity, and research. This academic paper traces the economic history of Israel and tries to identify the reasons for its astonishing growth

GUNS, GERMS, AND STEEL BOOK REVIEW

Through his Pulitzer Prize winning book, Jared Diamond explains differing economic conditions of the world through geographical factors. In this review, I compare the institutional explanation of development to the one presented by Diamond. Historical evidence is analysed to compare the two theories.

ECONOMICS OF CLIMATE CHANGE MIGRATION

In the coming years millions of people are expected to become climate change refugees due to alterations in environmental factors. This wide scale exodus is expected to change various economic indicators such as unemployment, agricultural output and infrastructure. This paper reviews how this phenomenon will affect two of the most vulnerable countries: Haiti and Bangladesh

SHADOW BANKING SECTORAL REPORT

Although not included in the traditional definition of the banking sector, shadow banks have played a major role in financial crises of the past (i.e. 2007 housing crisis). Institutions in this sector are infamous for relatively lower oversight by regulatory bodies. This basic report tries to summarise the shadow banking sector and presents some possible reforms to monitor their activities in a better fashion.

CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF RURAL BANKING

Government and private action has made several credit opportunities available in rural India. As the Indian economy is heavily reliant on rural employment via agriculture, it is important to analyse the available financial resources. Each of these alternatives present their own set of strengths along with certain areas of improvement. This presentation lists out the key advantages and disadvantages of the eight main sources of credit.

INDIAN ENERGY SECTOR REPORT

Energy forms the backbone of India's industrial output. In this report, I compare the key financial metrics of the major players in the Indian energy sector. Metrics in both intrinsic and relative valuation are taken for an all round analysis. Further, qualitative factors regarding recent projects and management are analysed to get a comprehensive outlook of the sector. (Historical Financial Data)
